The Not-too-terrible First Video Post

Hi all! Today I decided to try out a video post. I'm such an awkward person! I hope it's not too terrible! But I show you my finds from AZ Vintage in Bloomington as promised and a few things I picked up while back in Mactown. Enjoy!

Home...the One in Winamac

It's so strange having two homes. I'm home, but I just left home. I need a way to identify the two.
I meant to post my finds from shopping with Calvin last weekend before I came home, but I totally spaced it. I got too busy with homework and packing. I will definitely bring you that post once I'm back to my home in B-town.
Calvin and I went to the movies last night and saw Argo. I loved it! He did too, but he didn't want to admit it because he originally didn't want to see it. Also, before the movie started he stripped for me in the back of the theatre! Haha. Actually, his undershirt ripped and he decided to rip it off, but it ripped way up to his neck. He then decided to take off his hoodie and shirt and undershirt. Then he couldn't figure out how to put his shirt back on. It was hysterical. I always have so much fun when I am with him. It's crazy. A year and 4 months later and we're still having a blast together.
But, the point is he bought himself some shoes, but they were buy one get one half off, so he bought me some booties! They look like cowgirl boots, but they're short little booties! They are so so so cute! I'll definitely add that in my post when I get back to my home in B-town.
Hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving!
I'm ready to gain back the 15 pounds that I have lost at school.

60's A-line Dress

Today I actually wore my new bright yellow dress!
Sorry for some of the blurry photos. I have no idea why they came out that way.
Also, I had some fun with these photos today!

Dress: AZ Vintage (Downtown Bloomington)

I love the princess seams on this dress. They really accentuate my figure. I chose to wear this dress without a belt! Shocker, I always seem to be wearing a waist cinching belt. I felt that this dress was perfect just the way it is! Next time I wear it I look forward to a black and yellow combination!

60's Wrap Dress

Oh my silly boyfriend! He managed to pick one of the few summer dresses I had on my list of favorites on Etsy! What a silly boy. But I must say, I'm not sure that he could have picked a sexier dress! This is a full wrap dress (I will have to wear it on days where there is no wind!) and it accentuates my shrinking waist. (I don't know if I have told you, but I have lost 15 pounds since January!) It's also very low cut. Sixties mini dress (60's mini anything) are always super short! This one isn't too bad...

I left the mirror in this shot because I find it pretty creepy!

This dress appears to be handmade. Most of my 60's dresses are handmade.
Purchased from: Luv Stoned Vintage
This dress was a steal at $10! I'm not breaking Calvin's wallet by making him buy me all this stuff! I kept it cheap.
Also this dress came in the most adorable pink packaging! It was in the pink bin at my dorm's center desk and the lady had trouble finding it because it matched the bin so well!
Have a lovely evening.

50's Pleated Skirt

Remember how I said I gave my boyfriend my Etsy login info and told him to buy me something off of my favorites list?
A gorgeous taupe 50's pleated skirt arrived today!
Unfortunately the only shirt I have to match it is the one I photographed it with tonight! But Calvin said we can hit the vintage shops this weekend! It's his birthday weekend and he will be down visiting me. He's coming down Friday night which is his 21st birthday! I'm making him brownies for the occasion. I have no eggs so I have to steal someone else's from the fridge. There is a sign that says first come, first serve on the fridge. It's allowed. I got him an adorable little Batman shot glass. It has a cape! I'm really excited to see him. It's been a month! Usually I see him every 3 weeks. This has been killing me!

I'll probably be wearing this beauty tomorrow with a few changes. Metallic tank top under the giraffe print one, black hose, and my velvet heels. Super excited!

Local Vintage Shops

One huge reason to love Bloomington: all of the vintage shops!
There are several downtown. Today I walked to AZ Vintage. I only had $23 on me. I hoped I could find a cheap dress.
I did!
But first, I'm going to tell you some about AZ Vintage. It's really, really tiny! I was expecting a bigger store. They've got clothes on the left and some housewares on the right. I don't remember seeing any men's clothing now that I think about it. Sorry guys! They had shirts, blazers, jackets, coats, purses, sunglasses, jewelry, skirts, dresses, belts, scarves...a little of everything! But my favorite thing about this shop is their tags. The tags have the garment's measurements on them! That is just fantastic! Makes finding your size SO easy.

This dress fits me like a glove!! It reminds me a lot of my other 60's polyester dress. That one was green with a pattern similar to this one. But that one was a drop waist dress.
The only bad thing about these photos is that they don't show the actual color of the dress. The dress is actually a super bright yellow.
Look forward to seeing a post where I am wearing it! (=

Butterfly Sleeves

Hey guys! As I said last night, I want to try to keep updating this blog!!
Here I am today with my baby blue 70's dress! I never shared this beauty on here. Pretty crazy.
I was trying to remember where I got this dress from and I really can't remember. I am leaning towards Rusty Zipper...but I'm really not sure.
Since $345 of my vintage dresses have been ruined and I am a broke college student, my lovely, wonderful boyfriend has agreed to help replenish my vintage wardrobe! He loves it. I should have some surprises off of Etsy coming! I told him to pick from my favorites and I won't look to see what he got me! I'm uber excited for that.

It's really hard to capture in photos, but this dress has a fainted flower and line pattern to it. It's very interesting.

Dress: Possibly Rusty Zipper
Belt: Goodwill Rochester, IN
Jacket: Delia's
Shoes: Lower East Side

I look forward to sharing my gifts with you when they get here!

More Sadness

I do have to share what has happened since I have been away at college.
My dogs got really mad that I left and destroyed my room.
My winter vintage dresses were out on a chair by my sewing stuff because they needed repairs.
My dogs pulled them off the chair.
They peed on them.
My favorite, oldest dress probably cannot be saved.
It was velvet...from the 40's.
I was so angry.
I cried.
I yelled.
Taffeta went in the wash.
It came out all crinkled.
I threw everything in my closet.

When I go back for Thanksgiving...I will try to save them all. I spent a lot of money on all of those dresses. I loved them all so much! They're each unique.
I want to try to update this blog some more. I want to keep this blog alive.
Wishing you all a good day,
Felicia

Sad

Well, now that I'm at college it has pretty much killed this blog. I'm not really dressing like I used to. I have to do a lot of walking. Who wants to do that in heels?? But I have started another blog that I can update much more easily than this one. This fashion blog may get updated in the summers, but for now head on over to my nail art blog and follow it. (=

Thanks so much!!

P R O M ! ! And Some Big News

Saturday was prom!! I have to apologize for not posting in FOREVER. I was so busy with prom stuff and school work. (I have 15 more days of high school left!) Let's face it, I spend all of my free time working or with Calvin.
But before I share all of the lovely prom photos with you I have some exciting news regarding college. I am a 21st Century Scholar. In the state of Indiana kids apply for this scholarship program in middle school. It's needs based and my family made the cut back in 7th grade. The scholarship has allowed me to take my SAT's for free, not pay my housing deposit, or pay my enrollment deposit. I am going to Indiana University in Bloomington this fall. IU and Purdue do something really neat for 21st Century Scholars. The scholarship pays for tuition, and IU and Purdue will pay the rest if they think it is necessary. Yes, my first four years of college are completely paid for! I cried so much when I read it on my computer screen that my mom couldn't understand a word that I was saying.
I'm absolutely terrified of going to college. I'm not very outgoing. I don't have many friends as it is now. I'm the type of person that is scared of being alone. My best friend and best boyfriend ever will be attending college 4 hours away at Purdue North Central. I'm also really scared to leave without him. At the time that I leave for college we will have been together for a year and a month. I have no plans of leaving him, but that's a lot of distance. I'm just so scared to start this new part of my life.
But onto to the prom pictures. (=

This was my favorite of us. Calvin looked SO good in his tux!

Calvin's sister had her prom the same day for a different school. I love how opposite we were. She kept calling me princess all day.

Oh yes. I had no idea how huge I had made my hair until Calvin's step mom took this picture.

This is just precious. <3

I loved my corsage. It was the best one I had ever had!

Can't wait to see everyone else's pictures that went to a prom!

Stitch Fix #1

So this month I have tried something new. I tried Stitchfix. Stitchfix is a personal styling website. How it works is simple. Sign up, answer questions, pay $20, they send you 5 items in the mail. You try on the items. Keep what you want; send back what you don't. The $20 styling fee goes towards whatever you buy. If you buy all 5 items you get a 25% discount!!
MM Couture
$66
This dress was the first one shoulder dress to EVER look good on me!! Unfortunately, it fit too tightly in the hip area. I did not purchase this one.

^^I has a belly and love handles. Doesn't look good when something fits tight in the hip area.^^

BB Dakota Dress
$70
Dresses that have this sort of top always make my boobs look small and weird. I have never liked them. Unfortunately, this one was no different. I do love the bottom of the dress though.
^^Gives me a flat chest when my chest is not flat at all!^^
Aryn K
$73
I really wanted a cute springy shirt, but this was not what I had in mind. It is sheer and very loose fitting. I used to wear loose fitting in middle school. People would always ask me if I were pregnant. Loose fitting shirts and I don't have a good history together. I slapped a white belt on this and it was cute, but sheer! And $73 for a shirt? No thanks.

BB Dakota
$65
This was the one thing from my Fix that I purchased! This dress is just so adorable and it fits me so well too.

^^I am totally wearing this to school tomorrow!! I'm pairing it with my black belt, black crocheted bolero, and black velvet bow sandals!^^

The one thing that I did not picture today was the 3 gold hammered cuff bracelets. They were cute, and I wore them to work tonight, but they were $45. I'm not big on spending money on accessories.

Thinking Prom

So today I picked my dress up from Betty's. Of course I had to put it on again and feel like a princess again. (= Prom is fast approaching. Most of my posts, until April 28th, will be prom related. I have not yet decided how I want to do my hair, makeup, or nails for prom! In fact, I am clueless about shoes too.
So, without further ado:
So, I know that I have done pink before, but my dress happens to be pink and purple. If you have not seen it, then the post is here.

This is a lot darker than what I would like to do. It may also be difficult to recreate. I'm not an eye shadow expert by any means!

This is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Its extremely light. This makes me think of a fairy. (=

And this one may be my favorite. It just seems like the perfect balance.

Hmm. What is your opinion on my makeup looks for prom? Should I be dark and daring? Or light and pretty? Or be the safe in between? Grrrr. I hate decisions!
