What A Steal!

This weekend Calvin was in town. I had $50 burning a hole in my pocket. My favorite vintage shop that I talk about often, AZ Vintage posted a beauty of a photo on their Facebook page. It was a 50's dress similar to my black and purple taffeta, full skirted dress. When the owner posted the measurements and it was in my size, I knew that I at least had to go try the beauty on.
The next day Calvin took me to the shop. I tried on one other dress before asking her to take the one I really had my eye on off the mannequin. (I feel bad asking her to take it off the mannequin. I know they can't be much fun to dress!) When I came out of that dressing room everyone had something positive to say. Even the shop owner.
As I was paying she was telling me about the lady that had brought the dress to her. She said that she was reluctant to give it up, but it didn't fit her anymore. Completely understandable. I told the shop owner to let the lady know that the dress will be loved and cherished and worn well!

Also, I'm on the hunt for a crinoline. I have too many full skirts and no crinolines!
Can't wait to wear this beauty once it warms up just a little more!

New Threads!

Gahh! College is so time consuming!
But, like I said, I will try and update this blog.
I went shopping a few days ago and picked up some really cute stuff!

This dress isn't vintage...but it looked soooo good on me that I had to spend the $51 on it!
I don't know what happened to the front view of the dress...I might have accidentally deleted that photo.
Purchased at: Cactus Flower (Boutique on Kirkwood)

60's skirt from AZ Vintage!
This picture does not do it justice. Much prettier in person!
$14
Belt is also from AZ Vintage
$6

This is my favorite find of the day! This 50's beauty has made me like horizontal stripes!
Needs a few repairs to weak seams, but other than that it is fantastic!
Purchased from: Cactus Flower
$62

Inked

This is a little off topic, but tattoos are kind of vintage? They've been around for quite a while.
I got my first tattoo Saturday and my parents can't know!
It was the most painful experience of my life, but I am very happy with it and even want another sometime.
I would not have been able to do it without the support of my wonderful and amazing boyfriend. I am so grateful to have him.
So my tattoo...has giraffes, but not that dumb "stand tall" giraffe tattoo that you see absolutely everywhere on the internet.
I went into the tattoo parlor and spoke to the artist.
I told him that I wanted two giraffes kissing with "love" in circus letters above them.
After and hour and a half of crying and squeezing my boyfriend's hand this was the result:

Ribs and hip bone. It was killer.
I do have some outfit posts for you later down the line!
Also not vintage, but it was still a cute outfit!

Steppin' Into the 80's

Today I really felt like I was in the 80's. I was missing the big hair, but trust me, I felt like going back and teasing my hair up HUGE! My outfit was complete with leggings, 80's sweater, and my mom's leather jacket from high school.

Sweater: The Vintage Warehouse (In Bloomington)
Boots: Aldo
Jacket: My mommy!
