Christmas Shopping!

60's Drop Waist Dress: Height of Vintage
Velvet heels: DSW
Belt: Goodwill
Hat: Antique store
Clutch: Hollywood Mirror (Chicago)
Necklace: Customer from work (=

Yesterday I purchased my first Christmas gift of the year! Actually, my parents picked it up for me and I still have to pay them back for it. (Oops!) I got my boyfriend a Bear's jersey! He doesn't own one and I find that sad. We can wear matching Urlacher jerseys on Sundays now...except mine is pink! Today I hopped on Etsy and bought the few things I had favorited for him also. Those items would be zombie soap and a carved keychain. Just some small cute items. I don't think I'm done with my Christmas shopping for him yet. I think I might get gifts for his family too. I get along with his sisters really, really well.
I can't wait for the snow! It's supposed to snow some this week.(=
Hope everyone is having a blast with Christmas shopping! Remember that it's okay to buy yourself a Christmas gift too!(;
Dreaming of a White Christmas,

Thanksgiving Was A Blowout. . .No Seriously

Blahhh! Where to start? Where to start? Yesterday had a terrible start. I got up and made the brownies like I promised. I left the house to meet my boyfriend halfway to his dad's house. I was almost there...maybe 15 minutes away when my tire blew. Whoosh. There went all the air. This tire had a slow leak for a while and I knew that it was in need of air again, but getting air yesterday would have been out of my way. I knew I needed new tires, but I was waiting until the town decided to fix all the streets they had torn up! So I had to call my boyfriend and have him pick me up. He just thought that he'd put my spare on and we can take it the rest of the 15 minutes I needed to go. But of course this proved to be much more difficult than what it seemed. You see, the thing that holds your spare tire down in your trunk was completely rusted in my car. My trunk had apparently been leaking. And then I found out that the lug nuts on my car are two completely different sizes! Blehh. So we found a field and parked my car there. We were starving. We ate and then Calvin grabbed his cousin and left me at his dad's his with a bunch of But really that didn't turn out badly. I got to bond some more with his sister who is also a senior in high school. After what seemed like a long time I decided to shoot Calvin a text to ask how everything was going. His response..."Do you have your keys?" They had forgotten the keys at the house. Oh jeez. They had to come all the way back to get my keys! Poor Calvin was already exhausted. He grabbed some brownies on the way out to give him a little boost.(= Time passes...Calvin's step sister paints my nails. I play with a six year old for what seems like forever and Calvin finally came back. Ugh. What a terrible day. He ended up following me all the way home. My boyfriend lives an hour away. He drove over 200 miles yesterday because of that dang tire! I'm definitely thankful for having someone like him in my life. But this couldn't have happened on a worse day. Black Friday is like a freaking holiday now. All the tire places in town were closed today. So I have to try again tomorrow.

Here's my rude customer of the day. This old man ordered a cheeseburger club with fries. I take it out to him, set the ketchup down, ask if he needs anything else. He says no. Like 5 minutes later I'm taking coffee around my section and he is fully on waving his arms around in the air. So I walk over to him and ask him what he needs. He complained about how he was trying to get my attention for mustard, but he already had some on the table so I don't know what happened there. But then he picks up the little paper cup that the cooks put in the middle of the plates of the club sandwiches, and he throws it down on the table and says quite rudely, "I'd appreciate it if I coould get some cole slaw!" Okay, that was pretty rude. The entire room got quiet. I went back to the kitchen. Of course we're all out. So I go back and tell this guy that there's no cole slaw and he proceeds to ask if he can replace it with anything. This little paper cup of cole slaw is a spoonful. I tell him no. All of my other customers were whispering to me about how rude he was and how they almost said something to him because they thought it was that bad. This old man has given one of my coworkers a hard time before too. It's to the point where I'm not going to be nice to this guy next time he decides to freak out on me for something that is out of my control. Naturally, he told the hostess that his sandwich and coffee were good...but that's it. UGHHH! I rarely get people like this, but when I do it is the biggest damper on my day and my mood.
Hope you had a better Thanksgiving and Black Friday than I did!

Cold & What to Wear to Thanksgiving?

Not only is it cold outside, but I caught a cold while in Chicago. Something is telling me that it was the the walking around outside in the cold and going into warm shops and back into the cold and back into shops, etc. This really, really stinks. =/
I haven't posted any photo posts lately for two reasons. One of them being that I have been waking up late for school so I just throw on jeans and a hoodie. (Which I will definitely be doing this week because I feel like total crud!) And the other is that I don't have time to take pictures! By the time I get home from work it is dark and I am super tired. But I will try to get on taking some photos soon. Promise.
Now on to Thanksgiving! This Thanksgiving I'll be going to my boyfriend's dad's house to celebrate with them. I'm not quite sure which dress I want to wear. Maybe my green drop waist dress? Or maybe my black velvet dress? Or maybe something new and not old? Anyway, I'll be making pumpkin brownies for the occasion and my boyfriend is SO excited. He just got a whole batch of them a few weeks ago and they were gone within 3 days. I'm a pretty dang good baker. I was actually considering making a new tab on my blog just for recipes! Hmmm...maybe.

Chicago Shopping Results. . .

Black purse, black clutch, rabbit hat: Hollywood Mirrors
White wicker purse: Salvation Army store
Scarf: That's Her Bag

Here they are! Most of my purchases from yesterday! I went a little purse crazy, but believe me, I almost went hat crazy. Hollywood Mirror had a TON of vintage hats all locked up in glass cases. The poor guy had to come and unlock almost all of the cases against the wall! I ended up only buying one hat. The hat is rabbit fur. I normally don't buy any fur, but I figured it's only a rabbit. People hunt rabbits legally. There are plenty of rabbits in the world. The hat is adorable, so I had to have it.
The only thing not pictured that I bought were these adorable black velvet heels. They didn't have the color I wanted in my size, so they are being shipped to my house. I can't wait!
Con Besos,
Felicia
P.S. Like my hat model? It's a giraffe-a-poo!! =D

Successful Day!

Had a successful day in Chicago! We ended up hopping on the L to go to Belmont and Clark (my dad's old neighborhood!) and found a few vintage places there. There was this really cool shop called Hollywood Mirrors. I bought two purses and a really cute hate from there! There was also a beaded clutch that looked a lot like the one I got at work, and it was also made in Japan. The girl at the counter actually asked about my bag, and I got to promote the shop on ebay! We went to another place where I got a white wicker purse. I also ordered some cute black velvet heels and bought a scarf for myself and a new Vera Bradley for my mother! You bet there will be some pictures tomorrow night!
Goodnight!

Rita Hayworth

Rita Hayworth...that woman is my style icon. Well, one of them. As you can see I tried to have my hair dresser do my hair like her's for prom last year. I feel like I'm going to research some more into her life and see if she is a good person to look up to.
Well, tomorrow is my trip to Chicago with my mom. Yaaayyy...my mom hates Chicago. She's being a Debbie Downer about all of this. I don't really want to go shopping...Michigan Avenue doesn't have antique stores, and antique stores in the city will just be ridiculously priced anyways. I do have to remember to take my camera with me. I can share pictures! I'm hoping I can talk my mom into something fun like the aquarium.

Windy Days

1960's black lace shift dress: Momoshop
Black Cardigan: Delia's
Sparkly shoes: Rue21
1950's beaded clutch: Work! The Pulaski County Trading Post
Visit our ebay shop for an array of vintage items here.

Sunday I took pictures before going up to Valpo to see my boyfriend. There were 40 mph winds!! So needless to say it was impossible to get good pictures. They are what they are. The best that I could get! I love this new lace dress! My other black velvet dress arrived, but the hem needs to be fixed up. I've noticed that a lot of old dresses from usually the 50's have really bad, weak hems. My sewing teacher seems to think that fusible web will be enough to hold the hems in place. I now have two dresses that need the hem fixed and two that need a seam resewn. I don't have the time!!
Today I worked from 11 to 8:45 at the store! But I talked Connie into letting me have the little beaded clutch I'd had my eye on. Because it was consigned she had to get enough money to give some to the original owner. She is taking $20 out of my pay for it, but I think it is worth it. I love, love, love the clutch!
Happy Monday!

Anime Girl?

ButteKnit dress: Rusty Zipper
Tights: My mom
Shoes: DSW
Shrug: Don't remember?

Today was my first day at the antique store. She has so much cool stuff! The shop has really grown since I bought my vanity chair. I'm looking forward to working her Ebay auctions!
I've worn this dress a lot. I think I've styled it differently every time. Today two people told me that I look like and anime character. I really don't see it, but apparently it must have some truth to it if two different people told me this today. Weird.
Until next time,
Felicia

Second Job

For those of you who don't know me, I currently work at my uncle's restaurant as a waitress. I've been working here since I was in middle school. But recently I was offered a second job. I'm kind of excited because it's at the local antique store! I'll be working their online Ebay auctions. I get to see everything that comes into the store first! I'm sooo excited. Maybe I can buy some stuff while working here. Afterall, I did buy my vanity chair from this store. Tomorrow after school I'm going to the shop to start training.
Wish me luck!

Blue Roses in My Pocket

50's Dress: Stutterinmama
Faux Fur Coat: bought from a woman in town
Shoes: DSW
Hat: Antique store in Rochester
Necklace: Given to me by a customer at work

I don't know why, but my camera is obviously not functioning correctly. I should probably get that fixed.
Anyhow, everytime I put on one of my old dresses, I always wonder who wore it before me. I wish my dresses came with a sign in sheet. It would be so cool to know the history behind it.
Sincerely,
Felicia
